iPad 3 Called iPad HD ?

iPad HD
Gizmodo is floating a rumor that the name for Apple's next tablet will be iPad HD, rather than iPad 3. They base this information on alleged part listings from Griffin and Belkin.
Accessories manufacturers don't have a clue about Apple marketing plans until the very last minute. They usually get the physical specifications for new product versions in advance, so they can have products ready for launch. They also may get information about naming for product packaging, close to the release.
We are skeptical about this assumption that third-party accessory makers get information about unreleased Apple products, but share the rumor for the sake of discussion. In the past, Apple may have disclosed the designs of new products with third parties, but Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the company stopped the practice because of leaks.

Given Apple's recent propensity to name iPhone and iPad models using a numerical system, it is likely that the next iPad will follow this trend.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Apple iPhone 5

iPhone 5

The ultimate battle of the two big corporate giants; Samsung and Apple will both be releasing their new successors of mobile devices this year in 2012. So who will win the battle of the smartphones this year? In 2011 the Samsung Galaxy S2 shook the world by selling more devices then Apple and also won several outstanding awards hinting it to be the best smartphone of 2011, but partly due to this was because Apple was due to announce the Phone 5 iPhone 4S later that year. Despite the iPhone 4S being the exact same as its predecessor the iPhone 4 externally but not internally, it was one of the most sought after phones and was sold out for the most of late 2011. Companies like AT&T only became the biggest mobile carrier in the United States because of the iPhone line up.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5

Big vs Small – Will the 2012 battle of the smartphones still be about big vs small? I say this because the iPhone 4S was substantially smaller then the Samsung Galaxy S2 despite being released months after the s2. Many other companies such as LG and HTC also released big phones with success and many people when putting the iPhone 4S next to one of the giant Android smartphones probably felt that bigger was better, but what does Apple think? The Samsung Galaxy S3 is to have an even bigger screen with a higher resolution as it’s predecessor despite having a big screen lacked the crisp finish on the likes of the iPhone 4S as it sacrificed size for quality. Samsung also kept the Samsung Galaxy s2 as light as possible with a plastic back cover and parts, while Apple looked more for a better feeling fit. So in 2012 will Apple follow the bandwagon of the Android phones? boasting a large screen with a high resolution? A couple of months down the track and the rumors will be confirmed.

Power – Rumors have recently been circulating that the iPhone 5 will boast Apple’s new next generation architecture with a quad core A6 chip clocking at around 1 gHz. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is rumored to be running the Cortex-A9 CPU which boasts an impressive 1.5ghZ. Since the devices of 2011 started putting in 1GB of memory into their devices, expect that to double to 2GB making the new innovation of smartphones to be even stronger and faster boasting their quad core CPU’s and 2GB of memory.
Camera – In 2011 both devices for Samsung and Apple had very similar camera technology with the iPhone 4S edging it out to be a better camera. Expect in 2012 that mega-pixels will rule the market, this is because everyone’s getting into the notation that ‘bigger is better’. Despite mega-pixels not determining whether a camera is better or not, it looks like both Samsung and Apple will be out for the money this time around. The rumored cameras in the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5 are supposed to be 12 mega-pixels both like its previous models capturing in full HD. One thing that will surely happen is that Apple will improve their front facing camera though which was shocking compared to the Galaxy S2 last year and was an embaressment.
3D – This is what you’ve been waiting for, 3 dimensional technology. Recent rumors have come out saying Samsung will release the Galaxy S3 with a 3d model which excites many users as the big companies look to improve the current smartphone market. No word from Apple yet, but we expect it to not have 3D as they would probably not have the technology to do so as Samsung have many products at the moment in 3D that Apple don’t.

Conclusion – It will be a tough call in 2012 but expect the Samsung Galaxy S3 to be the better phone against the iPhone 5, but don’t count out that the iPhone 5 will most likely beat out the Samsung Galaxy S3 in sales with its loyal user group.

iOS 5.1 Could Include On-Screen Home Button For iPad 3/iPhone 5

If the teaser photo of the iPad 3 with no home button proves to be true, Apple may plan on including an on-screen home button in iOS 5.1 for both the iPad 3 and eventual iPhone 5.
If there is anything we know about Apple’s PR strategy when it comes to launching new products, it’s that the teaser photos they include in press invitations are always highly symbolic. After allowing the rumor mills to churn for months and months about features and release dates, a cryptic, coded photo always launches the speculation level to a new stratosphere the week before the official announcement.

For the iPad 3, the big question is about its home button: will it have one?

That has been the most focused-upon speculative feature change for the iPad 3 this week, along with how a home button-less iPad 3 would almost certainly foreshadow the same design decision for the iPhone 5. Concurrently, the tech media has also been contemplating the release and possible feature upgrades for iOS 5.1, which is shakily rumored to be released on March 9th, and would ostensibly ship with the new iPad 3. Rumored upgrades for iOS 5.1 include a new camera button on the lock screen, multi-lingual support for Siri, and improved security and battery-sucking performance — but you’ve already read about that stuff ad nauseam.

What no one seems to be talking about, however, is how Apple will compensate for the lack of a physical hardware home button on the iPad 3, and how iOS 5.1 might play a major role in making Apple mobile gadgets go home without their signature plurky home button.

It would stand to reason that, should Apple choose to lose the home button on the iPad 3, it will be replaced in one of three ways: a smooth, touch-style home button placed somewhere on the chassis, a software-based button on the user interface, or a new kind of gesture that will bring the user back to home. There are already several mobile devices on the market that utilize touch-style buttons on their chassis, but to be honest, they offer little more than a stylistic alternative to a hardware button that you depress. Changing the home button from the standard issue to a touch-style button wouldn’t significantly change the navigation experience on the iPad 3.

Rather, it is more plausible that iOS 5.1 will introduce a software-based navigation solution for the iPad 3 having no home button.

To this point, there have been no clues within the beta versions of iOS 5.1 that would indicate a new software-style home button. But the reason for this could simply be that Cupertino has gone out of its way to avoid tipping off analysts pouring over the new code — or that analysts missed it because they weren’t looking for it.

If iOS 5.1 turns out to replace the physical home button on the iPad 3, it would also give iPhone users a chance to get acquainted with this new type of navigation for the iPhone 5 as well.
